CONSULTING
Evaluate technology investments
Product is often the difference between a story that looks good in a deck and a business that can still grow after the deal.
Who this is for
- Private equity teams reviewing investment or acquisition targets
- Software and data companies assessing bolt-on acquisitions
- Insurtech and startup teams preparing for investment, partnership or founder exit conversations
Typical work
- Assessing long-term product value: deployment model, scalability, competitive moat and portfolio fit
- Reviewing product team maturity, roadmap quality and GenAI readiness
- Validating growth initiatives and solution fit in the UK insurance market
- Helping startups sharpen positioning, roadmap narrative and answers to likely investor questions
How I approach it
- For investors: work from disclosures and the data room, form product questions, interview senior product people, and write up benefits, risks and conditions.
- For startups: assess vision, use cases, product, users, market, roadmap and compliance against competitors — then coach the team on how to present it.
- Stay honest about weaknesses. Confidence comes from clarity, not optimism.
Evidence
- At Open GI, shaped growth initiatives over several years that contributed to an eventual PE acquisition.
- At Verisk, assessed multiple smaller acquisition targets from a product perspective for investment and diligence processes.
